I've been busy and distracted for a while. I put more time into playing Warframe, getting A+ Certified, and working on side projects.
As I said in my previous post, Warframe is getting really grindy for new players now. Since I've been playing for a while, I've already completed a majority of the game before scaling difficulty, lower drop rates, and additional "BUY PLATINUM" neon signs. I'm a bit upset at how I'm not nearly as efficient at leveling gear as I was before the scaling difficulty change and how this also messed up item farming (lower drop rates+ harder to solo areas = more risk, less reward). Then again, I have more "but this was how it used to be" comparisons now.
In other news, I am now A+ Certified and have 3 years to either take a newer version of the test, completed a higher level cert, or enroll in Continuing Education to keep my status from expiring. All those options cost money and I'm still unemployed. Bah. And yet, I still have access to a computer with a decent net connection through which I can play games. What? Needless to say, I'd be screwed on my own in my current state.
On the Warframe forums, there was a fan sketch of a Prime Warframe's helmet, so I did the sensible thing and made it in 3ds Max. I've since submitted it to the sketch's author and am waiting to see what kind of organic details he places on it. I should probably inquire as to its progress...
Some friends and I are planning a game about a year out and our artist drew a couple sketches of armor. As above, I've been making it in 3ds Max and trying to fill in the details where the sketches are just gradients or solid color. It's also front view only, so I'm improvising on the back. No images to show here until the game gets further along.

Im a new player at warframe, been playing for 3 weeks and im still stuck at my initial warframe loki with no sentinel and no reactor, weapons the same, no catalyst... I barely can survive lvl 40 missions playing all the tricks and bugs in the book you can do to take advantage of the scenario and loki. Im seriosly thinking about quitting, its no fun, and the friends that i play with are in a even worse situation than me lol.
ReplyDeleteGrinding is integral to the game. Reactors and Catalysts are occasional Alert rewards after livestreams (possibly one this Wednesday) and they rarely make an appearance as a standard Special Alert (The ? in the reward boxes has been replaced with the actual item now).
DeleteIf you want a new frame, you're going to have to farm a boss or specific early missions that grant Banshee parts. I would recommend Fossa, Venus for the Rhino, but you need to be Mastery Rank 2 to use him. Next would be War, Mars for Mag.
Sentinel Blueprints can be bought with credits in the Market. I would recommend Shade to complement Loki, but I prefer Dethcube for sheer DPS. Wyrm is okay, but I used him when his stagger effect didn't do anything, so there's a bit of a stigma attached to him.
I thought new accounts still got starting platinum so you could buy weapon/warframe slots and whatnot in the Market. Maybe they've changed that since Open Beta.
Lol im almost lvl 4, and yes i know about farming, but i think that the biggest appeal this game has for people at start, is that it doesnt look like a grinding game at all. I got to say that it tries really hard to look like a normal PC multiplayer game... its kind of disappointing. But well... i guess its nice its instance base maps. So far i got pretty bored of farming, did like 20 raptor runs just to get 1 control module. At the least i got a sentinel now. The only thing that keeps me hanging on this game are the tower void keys. I really enyoy just going solo and explore the whole map, i dont even follow the quest marker lol, hunting for creates and container, i just like the design. And even though i can make some warframes (nova, banshee, ember) im not going to, those warframes are pretty bad solo, and since solo is what i do all the time, except some alert/defense missions, im sticking with loki, i can even kill stalker, just invi and max fury dagger the hell out of him. But still, I could use a reactor lol, kinda sucks being one hited sometimes, and being force to shoot behind walls and corners...
